Happiest of Holidays - 2025
I hope this post finds you and your families well and you have made it through the holidays all in one piece. I’m on vacation until the new year, having too many days of vacation time to “use or loose” from work for 2025. It’s my goal to get this website and blog up and running for 2026. Wish me luck!
For me here in the bird room I continue to plan, mainly revolving around cage space and placements. I am aware that the birds were up and full in song mode this morning @ 6:45am. No artificial lights, blinds shut and just a hint of the day to come. Other than an occasional spat from the flight cage that holds my 2025 youngster's, all seem to be on their best behavior. However, that being said, I’m not foolish enough to ignore Mother Nature or the increasing show of hormones with the boys. This will mean careful planning ahead, but some days it comes down to just plain old juggling of cage space. I’m in the “careful planning” mode today taking a hard look at the number of breeding pairs for 2026. I have some beautiful 2025 babies that need new zip codes ahead of the upcoming breeding season (which means they need to go!). This may alter the number of pair I place together since I will not breed more birds than I can handle in my room.
I’m headed upstairs with my notebook to sit in the bird room a while with my cuppa and begin a “careful plan”. Thanks for joining me and I look forward to sharing my canary love with you in 2026. Thankful, grateful, blessed.
